Well, hello everyone. I'm Sally Feldman and I'm a grandmother. When I first discovered that my daughter was pregnant a couple of years ago, I began to wonder what it would all mean. What would grandmothers actually do? Would I be up to the task? What difference would it make to my own life? So I began to write my book, How to Be a Nearly Perfect Grandmother, offering advice and stories for new grannies, and most of all, a celebration of grandmothers everywhere. And so today I'll be talking to three seasoned grandmothers and one brand new one.
Benedetta Cappelini, Professor of Marketing at the University of Durham, talks to Sally Feldman, who is currently writing a book of advice for new grannies, about the effects of the new trend in intensive parenting.
“The nearest you get to having a god in your life is having a grandma,” says the novelist Howard Jacobson. In today’s podcast he talks to Sally about his beloved Andy – the grandmother he adored.
